Large camellias threaten to overtake the windows and doorways, their shades of pink hidden amongst the deep green. A carpet of pink blooms covers the walkways. Crocuses lie prostrate on the soil, having given into the rain while the daffodils stand high with their sullen expressions, the great swords of iris lay waiting along with little kisses of tulips that are not yet ready to bloom. A peeling and splintering bench sits, empty seats facing the house. The remnants of a flagstone path lead to a blackberry thicket with a small path carved into it.
